From an early age he demonstrated an uncanny ability to entertain through an array of short stories and plays. Poetry soon followed which fueled his vivid imagination and he developed his skills to weave ideas and concepts effortlessly. The ultimate 80’s baby, Brandon Johnson was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. A military brat in his early childhood but he settled in Northern Virginia at the age of 7. As he grew older, he discovered his god given ability to sing, rap, and entertain. His heart was always set on breaking into the entertainment industry but it wasn’t until he graduated from high school that he focused solely on creating music and actually made it a priority to work harder at it.

Shortly after graduation, a group of six talented musicians decided to join forces and they formed a group named “The NHC” also known as “The Coalition”. The relationships built and the knowledge he gained from being in the group added even more motivation to his dreams of making it in the music industry. The group traveled up and down the northeast region performing and a locally distributed album soon followed. Soon the group members began to grow apart and the comparisons within the group eventually led to their breakup.

After the group split, Brandon began to lose focus on his musical career. Reality set in and he wasn’t able to support himself through his music. Brandon enrolled himself into college in hopes of making a better life for himself. He would continue to create music in his spare time as it took a backseat to the daily grind. In search of a better life, Brandon joined the military in 2001. The experience he gained from the 4 years in the military changed his life forever. He continued to do music and occasionally performing for family and friends. He had a blossoming professional career with new responsibilities and he life was heading in the right direction, but something was missing.

Feeling the allure of the game, it was time for him to get back into the music hustle. He seized every opportunity to be heard. He attended every open mic opportunity, quickly building a local following with his copious freestyles and destroying the local competition.

A close friend of Brandon suggested that he name himself “Drop”, because of his ability to drop knowledge, creativity, and concepts on individuals. The number 7 was later added because it held a special meaning to him.

In February of 2007, Drop put out a promotional CD called “The Day of the Sevens”. It was collection of original music that showcased Drop’s ability to make good music. The release quickly sold thousands of copies independently within a couple of months. In May of 2008, Drop formed “Open Your Mind Music Group” a record label and entertainment company that would be the home for his future projects. “I made a decision to start up my own movement and the promo CD is just the beginning. So far there hasn't been anyone to really make an impact in the Northern VA area. That will change…Welcome to the Open Your Mind Movement..... It's something for the people who truly love music.”
